Monica Dale, a professional dancer, pianist, and author of the Eurhythmics for Young Children series, has been fascinated by antiquated ideas on beauty, charm, and etiquette since she was a skinny 13-year old watching Scarlett O’Hara being laced into a corset.

Monica shares her Art Deco-furnished home with an extensive collection of antiquarian books, along with an eccentric array of antique hats, gloves, and purses. Her idea of a good time is an afternoon perusing flea markets, an evening at an antiques auction, or a few hours regaling her friends with quotes from her book collection.

Their enthusiastic responses were the impetus for Advice from the Attic.

Monica lives in a Baltimore suburb with her daughter Hilary and husband Michael, who’s forever building new bookshelves to accommodate her growing collection of “weird old books.”
